I just don't log dives
If anyone is interested in an easy dive on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, The MUD club is hosting a drift dive in the St. Joseph river. We will meet at the bank, on Riverview Drive, just up river from the Bi-Centenial Bridge on Main St. in Benton Harbor. The river has a mild current and gets up to 22 feet deep.

If you need directions, we will be just down the street from Wolf's Divers Supply. We plan to hit the water about 12:00 and will be there till the air runs out. If there is a lot of rain preceeding the 25th, the river will probably be too low on visibility so we will move to one of the local inland lakes or dive the piers where the river dumps into Lake Michigan. I will post an update on line and have directions at Wolf's if we plan to move the dive.

Hope to see you there. By the way, this is NOT one of those "you can't miss dives", ;) but it is fun and another chance to get wet before the ice starts to make things more fun!

We had our club meeting tonight and the dive is on! If you are interested, just show up!

Thanks Jim, and all the other members of the MUD club for a fine introduction to St. Joseph River diving! This was the first river I have ever dove and it was an interesting experience. Although there was current, and 3 feet and less viz, it was still hard to miss those 7" long clams! All kinds of stuff in that water. Next time, I will keep a sharper eye for those giant catfish. I'm glad you guys were able to accomplish your mission of finding the elephant.

I'll keep an open mind on the New Year's Eve dive! :D

Although the vis was less than what we had hoped for, it was still a good dive. Warm air temps of high 50's and water temps in the low 40's. We had 9 divers and 7 surface support, including Dean who made the treck from Chicago land.

We did recover the elephant (see photos in my Gallery) which will be refinished and placed in the rock garden for the kids to enjoy again!
