Just a quick word about the diving here at Statia as well as the island itself:

I've been diving with Golden Rock Dive Center (Goldenrockdive.com) for awhile, it's a great little dive center, very accommodating and friendly with two main dive boats and a dinghy and lots of equipment. The staff know their stuff and go to the best dive sites the island has to offer (I saw my first ever wild shark here at Statia! It was awesome!)

There are 8 different ecosystems out here including new and old wrecks, wall diving, reef diving and coral encrusted lave flows-all of which are amazing and have a diverse range of species including: turtles, southern stingrays, sea horses, lobsters, reef and nurse sharks, and lots of little stuff too- check out the website for more info or visit the Facebook page (Golden Rock Dive Center).

The island itself is really tranquil and picturesque, there is so much history here, under the sea as well as on land. All of the people on the island are really friendly and know how to make you feel welcome.

Don't just take my word for it, check it out!

Good to hear you are having a good time. Are you planning to visit Saba, too?

Yeah I think so, but not right now, theres still so much for me to see here!

Plus one for Statia, Golden Rock, and Mr. Bobby.Video clip from CL Brown

Island is an historical gem. Small factiod: The beads the Dutch West Indies Corp used to buy Manhattan from the Native Americans were Statia Blue Beads.

:confined:Get out of the jar! Go talk to strangers!

We found a blue bead today! Last week we got three on one dive! We also had a great dive at Charlie Brown this afternoon, came across a black-tip reef shark. Theres always something cool to report after every dive here :)
