Hi, I was wondering what the norm price for specialty classses with SSI are? My LDS is charging $270 w/hard card, $260 w/digital card. Sounds expensive and was just wondering if I need to be finding another LDS. Thanks in advance and have a great day!

The only way you can really find out is to shop around to other shops and find out what they include in the class. One that includes the class. training materials, card, and what ever else is necessary, will cost more than just the training and you have to pay for all the associated costs seperatly. Also, a good instructor that takes all the time needed is worth more than one that rushes through to get on to the next class, quality vrs quanity.

In addition, there are other SCUBA agencies, so you could shop them as well.

Good Luck

Bob

Which specialty?
$270 seems a bit steep for a course such a nitrox but may be in line with a search & recovery or recreational wreck.
Shop around and see what is and is not included in the course.

As Scott says, the price should vary by the specialty. I teach some specialties that require 3-4 full dives plus pool and classroom time. I teach one that is a couple of hours of classroom only. The prices for them vary as you would expect.

Thanks for the info eveyone. I have been looking around and found out the differences. It is indeed materials and quality of instruction. Thanks everyone for info and input.
