Normal Inner tube from punctured ones on my yamaha IT200 Enduro, but any car tyre tube will do. Its nice and thick. But dont forget to remove it and or wash under it. It does trap mud and clay easily. Motorcycle tubes have a better radius for sticking on the tank

Rick Murchison once bubbled...
Just to be sure, I went out and looked at my AL80's that I used to double - they were doubled for a couple years with nothing between the bands and the tank.
Can't even tell they were ever banded.

put em in salt water a few times

They were in & out of salt & fresh.
I did rinse 'em after any day in the Gulf.
And you could probably see where the bands were when they first came off a couple years ago. But whatever signs there were are gone now. My point is that SS and AL get along pretty well together apparently, and any dissimilar metal corrosion that did occur was so minimal as to be unnoticable now - and therefore I judge it inconsequential. In fact, you'll often get less dissimilar metal corrosion when the metals are in contact than you will when they're very close together but not in contact. Without getting too deeply into the chemistry and physics of the reasons, it has to do with there being a direct path for electrons when the metals are in contact vs ionic carriage in the intermediate medium (especially salt water) when they are not, and the corrosive effects of those ions.

true, the only corrosion I have is around the edges of the bands. veey small amount under them. like you said just rinse them after a saltwater diver.

You have to stop talking about it now...I already put them together and it is too much work to go back and redo it with inner tube :D

Seriously, thanks for all the help..
