Penny and I dove two nights in a row to see the squid. Its not a full-blown run yet, but quite a few were out...saw about 25 squid tuesday night, 50 squid last night, largest group was a group of 4. some were mating.

hope you can get out to see them! (they are at vet's park, 70-90ft depth).

Small torpedo ray, preparing for attack. 18 inches long. we found him buried in the sand. he was small, but had a full grown additude.

Good to hear this and see your nice pix, Scott. No sign of the squid here on the leeward side of Catalina yet, but I'm hoping it will be another run like last year's!

Cool pics, Scott. We saw some squid during our deep stops on the Yukon last Sat night.

Hi Scott,
Great shots, it was nice to see you again. Don't forget the pictures of the Rockfishes you said you'd send.

John

Interesting that the squid run there can be so brief. Last year around Catalina I was seeing fresh eggs for six months, although not necessarily at the same site. The squid seemed to start at the West End of the island and work their way down the leeward coast, then turn at the East End and go up the windward coast.
