UWSojourner:
Are there spring straps for the Atomic Aquatic Splitfins and Mares Volos?

Thanks

 I installed the newest type Manta springs on my Apollo bio fins. I found that I needed to use cable ties to keep them from coming off the cam (two cables om each side, eight in all.) They have worked fine this way. (Had one tie break, in 20+ dives.)

I installed springs on my SCUBAPRO Twin Jets (XLarge) from 5th Dimentions but have since taken them off and put the newer SP type swivel rubber straps back on. The springs were just to tight for my size 14 feet, for that matter, the fins themselves still didn't have room for my drysuit boots...so I bought a pair of turtles and put the springs from 5th D on them...they work fine and are big enough for rock boots or whatever!

If I could find a spring that was large enough to place on the Twin jets I would do it, but so far I haven't been able to.

Apollo makes a spring strap set-up for their fins now, however; one must really butcher the regular set-up to install them and they are pretty pricey. I didn't want to butcher my Bio fins, so I'll keep the Manta set-up. (At least I can reinstall the regulars straps if need be. All reports (Apollo set-up) on them that I have heard were good, except for the need to butcher the existing set-up.

So, now I have (4) sets of fins. (Apollo full foots fins too.) At this point for warm water diving I still like the Apollo Bio fins the best and the Turtles for Drysuit diving. :banghead:

That's actually the easiest part! I used an ultra sharp Global Chef's Knife on my Oceanic V12's (VERY CAREFULLY) and the cut was clean as can be. You couldn't do that on say, the Atomics because it's a hard plastic stem but the Bio Fins should cut the same as the Oceanics. It's a much cleaner way to go than to hack saw them. I love my Apollo C-Springs but I should have installed them with a little more angle...no biggie they still work great!

Yeah, but as I mentioned once done there is no going back to the regular set-up right? :chicken:

Right, once the stem is of it's off for good you can't go back at all but you wont want to...I guarantee it! Springs flat out rule!
