I'm a Fish!
Hi

On some recent dives in Indonesia I have seen a fish behavior that I didn't notice before. On most dive sites where I work we have lots of sponges. One of them is theonella cylindrica (found this in a fish ID book), or at least looks like this sponge.

On many occasions I would see bannerfish just hovering with their face above the opening from the sponge.

I know that sponges are filterfeeders and somehow "exhaust" the filtered water through the top opening. But what are the bannerfish doing? It looks like someone is standing with his face in front of a fan because it is so hot.

Strange
