My BCD is about 25 years old and still in quite good condition.

The plastic mount into which the inflater hose is threaded that is fitted into the shoulder of the BCD body needs replacing. Due to tropical heat the plastic has degraded and is breaking apart. I managed to use strong fabric and strong bonding flexible glue to refit the original but now the threads are disintegrating.

Anyone got one of these plastic mounts? They are bonded in the factory but if in a worn out or damaged BCD it could be cut out. Or a new one if any one knows where.

Thanks

In Maldives just now but normally based in Thailand, UK during the 'summer'.

Additional Edit: I now require 3 of these dump valve inserts as the other two which checked only this morning are also suffering the same fate.

RK,

I just responded to your e-mail. Hopefully we have the correct fix for your issue.

Thank you for your good effort in supplying the part. The concept was correct but the detail not. I require a part with an internal thread to receive the male thread of the inflater hose. Thanks again for trying so much.

RK it is possible that the Dive Rite parts are not compatible with the current parts you have. Therefore, why not replace the entire assembly. You'll need: the Elbow DR-BC2042, Bladder Flange Assy FXBC2700, and Bladder Flange Gasket DR-BC2747. That should give you everything you need. I would also suggest the Bladder Flange Tool DX-209001 for less than $5 it is certainly worth having.

However, before that perhaps if you can post a picture.

I haven't found a replacement part for those type of hoses, to this point. The couple I've repaired I replaced both pieces because I couldn't find a suitable mate for the unbroken part. I'd go with Couv's suggestion on this one.

Here are a selection of pics. I have already been in private exchange with Joyce of Dive Rite who tried her best but seems they don't have equivalent parts.

I couls use used parts from a BCD that has say a damaged bladder.

It's me again. If you click on the second image you can see my successful repair by inserting a larger fabric ring inside the BCD, supporting the inflater fitting then a second tight fitting ring on the outside supported by a small cable tie. Worked very well but the heat degraded plastic threads disintegrated on me. As on the shoulder dump valve. click the last image and see the disintegrating plastic. The lower dump valve and alternate location are both ok for now but of the same plastic so will surely need replacing too.
