Spin off: Do you travel with your dive log and have you had to produce it to book a dive?
(Spun off from the "have you been turned away thread")

We dont travel with out dive log as its on each of our computers. We download our data when we return from the site and update it there with notes.

We dont sign eachothers logs and rarely get stickers or stamps for the pages.

... Only 1 place asked to see proof that we had done 4 dives within the year at over 60 ft.. We just showed them our dive computers and they were fine with it.

Anyone else?

Mine is always available on my web site. My c-card is so old that many instructors don't believe I still know how to dive unless they are familiar with me.... and I only let the ladies get familiar!

no and no, ...........

We also keep electronic, downloaded logs. No paper logs. I don't see the point, when you can simply sit down for a few hours, and write some creative fiction, if you're so predisposed.

I believe the logs are for us. They're records for our own reference as to weighting with particular gear, sites dived, SAC tracking, notes of unique sightings, etc. I really don't see it as any kind of formal proof that dives were actually accomplished. That's ridiculous ('specially if you and your regular buddy can simply sign each other's logs).

Oh... and have only been asked once... just to see the number of dives to date for a volunteer dive operation... and that I just transcribed, handwritten, from the digital log, anyway.

I take mine but have not been asked to produce it...yet. I still like to keep a record of the dive sites including fish seen and any adverse conditions. The c-card plus date of last dive seems to be enough to get wet.

I take mine, but haven't had to produce it. I like to fill in the details when they are fresh in my mind, then I upload the elcetronic data from the dive computer and transfer the written notes and pictures into the electronic logs. Mine are online at www.scbamage.com.

I take mine, it has become a place for the signatures of ScubaBoarders I've had the pleasure of diving with, and the places dived
I've never had to produce it for proof of anything
