For your clip question.
To be like the DIR guys, get a bolt snap and attach it similar to this: http://www.divegearexpress.com/library/boltsnap.shtml or even easier, and smarter get a double eye bolt snap, Comme ca http://www.divegearexpress.com/hardware/sssnaps.shtml, and attach one end around the hose just below the SPG and the other to a D ring or a loop somewhere convenient.
