I use couple of socks to keep my heavy Apeks regs from smashing into anything fragile. But never occur to me that I have to protect the spg!

I use one of these Divers Supply neoprene mask strap sleeves I got for free with an order placed. Opens up on one side with velcro. The SPG with boltsnap lined up parallel to hose fits snugly inside.

Barring a pair of old woolly socks, a common solution for many of us here, for gauges of all sorts, here's a fancier solution:
