For me, the question is, With a fleet of ships on the Atlantic and Pacific, numerous staff scientists and biologists, Laboratories, Planes etc.... then why, if NOAA were so wanting to examine the whale, couldn't they rent a truck, and move the carcass to a suitable site? Seems to me it could have been accomplished for a couple of hundred bucks. Heck they charter the Spree for a trip every year. I'm guessing the operator isn't donating his services.
I'm just a little surprised with NOAA using a 36 ft. whaler to play on the taxpayers dime, why they don't have funds to engage in expected activities.
On another note, I'm hoping channel 5 will take the chopper for a ride to film the carnage on the carcass.
