My plates read, "CPTDALE". I used to have ones that read, "RECDIVE".

Put a personalized vanity plate anounces to the world that you are a diver---it also acts as a beacon for less that trusty individuals.

Parked at a dive site or beach indicated that the owner is possibly gone for 1-2 or more hours--easy mark!

Therefore they would be both a blessing and a curse. I would personally not be in favor of a Divers plate.

Cheers from California where it all began,

I had "TO DIVE" for several years. I never had any problems with less honest individuals. Of course, when the car was stopped, I was either using my gear, or the gear was in my house.

What does BC Ferries want you to do with it? Charge you for hazardous materials?

Kinda like that. When I used to have a dive flag plate on the front I would sometimes get a double or triple check by the guy in the booth and have on occasion been pulled out of the lineup to fill out some kind of bullcrap bureaucratic form. Others I know have missed sailings trying to explain that "Nitrox" is not the same as liquid nitrogen. After a few years of that and some friends having their vehicle broken into and their gear or other valuables stolen, I thought it best to avoid all the hassle and just keep my vehicle as inconspicuous as possible so I ditched the stickers and plate.
