stas:Trying to catch (kill) fish by placing my self in way so that I can neither see them nor follow them (using a fishing rod) alway seemed kind of under-acheving to me. I always felt that fair play (in regards to both the quary and other persons) in activies like hunting is a good way to go home disapointed and emty handed.
The St Lawrence is the one area where I dive where there is a thriving sport fishery. I am always amazed at the number of fish I see there swimming around with lures stuck in their mouths, generally with some huge infection around it. I once found a large bass "moored" to a section of mast on the Vickery with a short section of line, which I cut. I presume that all of these fish represent the ones that "got away". Considering most are doomed, I don't suppose that's the correct expression. :shakeheadWeb Monkey:You're missing the point of "sport fishing".
The idea is that it is not a "sure thing", and it's entirely possible to go home empty handed. That's why they call it a sport. Some days you win, and some days the fish wins.
