We are staying in the Upper Keysthis year for summer vacation. We are on Tavernier to avoid going thru Pennecamp. Are there any shops in the area that cater to spearfishermen?

We do spearfishing trips, but they have to be scheduled in advanced so others on the boat know people will be spearing or you can charter our 30' boat just for spearfishing.
Oh yea....We located in Tavernier.

Good Diving,

Have my own boat.Looking for a shop that stocks parts, actually spearfish, know local conditions etc..
We will be down for a month and have quite a few friends either visiting or may stay nearby. We used Underseas in BPK for the last 10 years and they were awesome to deal with.Very friendly, knowledgeable and always had that one part that broke.

In Key Largo, most dive shops don't cater to underwater hunters. World Watersports / Divers Direct (mile marker 99.5 oceanside) has a decent selection of spearguns (Mares, JBL, & Riffe) and accessories; but if you have a tendency to lose, bend, or break things, you'd better bring your own spares!

Reliable local knowledge is hard to come by, and often guarded. Misinformation and uninformed opinions, on the other hand, are doled out freely! Be sure that you and your companions are familiar with, and abide by, local regulations.

Dive safely, and happy hunting!

You will want to check out Scuba Outlent (MM106) on your way down. They carry a great variety of spearfishing supplies. They have a ready stock of bands, etc.
