Bill,
Good morning. Another board I have found as helpful as this one is Spearboard.com. If you haven't checked them out already, you may want to.

Best Regards
Don

Thanks for the info, I am in kingston nh which is south eastern part of the state.
Jan where do you usually go? I just didn't know if it required licenses or if it is open to anyone, do you free dive or use your scuba gear. Also what kind of sprear do you use? a band gun a pnuematic or just a pole?

Hi Bill, I usually go to rye nh for stripers early am before work. For them I use a 2 band mid handle spear gun that I had made. For flounder I go to rockport ma and use a hand spear. in ri I go to newport or to saconnet point using a kayak and my spear gun. Most of my spearing is by freediving but if I come across a flounder or ocean pout while on scuba they usually come home with me. As far as the laws go you simply follow what the regs say, almost all are the same for line fisherman as for spearing but read them close some species are not allowed to be speared like stripe bass in Ma. you need to get them in RI or after they pass
into nh you will see many many more fish freediving than on scuba. no licence needed.
