Is "chingados" more acceptable, as in "No acompaño estos payasos chingados"?

I don't think so. A very sweet spirited Cozumeleño friend didn't even want to tell me what it meant (after a mischievous taxista tried to teach it to me) because it was such a bad word. I do believe he'd heard me use the English equivalent before... So it made me wonder if it was worse...
 
a chingado is a person that "has been f**ked or even raped" so it is a very bad word.

It's used quite frequently in California too :)

Used alone, it's a curse akin to our "Sh*t!".
