This is for everyone that couldn't make todays "Crab Fest" at The Rocks. Lets go catch us some dinner next Sunday the 21st. We can meet up around 10ish.:14:

You mean they actually left some for the rest of us????

Unfortunately, I'm booked for Sunday, but was already looking at Saturday as a possibility.

I dive Spanish Rocks once every 20 years... 19 more to go... :grin

Miss D and I removed 12 claws from Spanish Rocks today. One of them almost had a hand :D

Was that enought for a meal? Are they hard to find? And did you see any lobsters?
So is anyone joining me for this dive or am I on my own. I'm not sure if my boyfriend can come along, so I may need a buddy. Anyone interested?

Where is Spanish Rocks? I am new to the Sarasta dive area and am not shure where it is. I would be up for diving but I have to be back to get ready for work by 2. Let me know how far away Spanish Rocks is from 41 and Sarasota Parkway and about what time you usually get out of there.

I-75 south from Tampa to the Bradenton/ State road 64 exit( there is an A and B so take the A exit it will head you toward the beach). You are going to take the exit toward the right. Stay on that road for about 8 miles or so until you get to Gulf Dr.( you will hit Gulf Dr. after you cross the intercostal waterway)You make a left on Gulf Dr. and take it down about 1/2 mile. Just before the curve to the left there is a beach access and parking. That is where you want to be. It is a small sand lot between some houses and apartments. Just pull in there and park. Gear up walk down the beach to the left about 50 yards enter the water swim out about 50 yards and dive max depths 22ft.

Thanks for the info. That sounds like it would take me about 45 min or so to get there. I assume that if we got there around 10 that I should be able to make it back home by 2. MichelleA let me know if you are interested in going with a beginner crabber. I have never done it before, so as long as you don't mind showing me the ropes, I would be happy to get under the water.

Talkin to Bandit on the phone. He says he'd be game. Although, I too, would need to be shown the ropes for "crab grabbin".

I've never been "crabbing" before either. So it should be an interesting dive, to say the least. I understand that you just have to coax (sp?) them out and then grab them by the body and then twist one of there arms off. Sounds cruel, but they grow back. Its an easy, relaxing dive. I'm going to get there at 10am. Hopefully, I'll see some of you all sunday morning.:D
