Hi jlyle,

thanks for your advice. My wife uses one of my spare strobes (YS-120) in TTL-mode with the Heinrichs-Weikamp converter.

I am sure it will work the way you mentioned above, but what I do not like in super macro mode: You cannot zoom, the lens is at its widest position, so you will have problems with strobe positioning. In my opinion it is easier to use macro at 118mm plus a diopter.

As soon as I have made a test with our 1:2 Macro lens I can post the results if anybody is interested. From my first impression in the bathtub it might work VERY well...

I did exactly what Jock is suggesting when shooting macro. As a matter of fact, you can keep the camera in macro mode for most shooting on the camera. It will give you an optimal starting point unless you're doing WA. I used the Epoque lens. The magnification was terrific but the DOF was paper thin. If I were doing this all over, I'd definitely consider the Inon stuff if you're planning on keeping the camera for awhile. Screw on lenses are okay but get sand between the threads and you'll be removing the lens with a pipe wrench after the dive (experience). The Inon bayonet style lenses are a little more money but worth it. Again, the magnification with the camera in macro mode and fully zoomed at 3X was just as good as the supermacro mode. Additionally it focused faster along with giving you more working room between you and your subject.

Thanks for all the help in this thread gang. I'm going to Playa on Wednesday diving Dos Ojos cenote, Cozumel and local reefs. Between all the reading here and a couple phone calls I got my SP350 all ready to go with my new Inon D2000 stobe. Can't wait to get it all underwater and give it a try!

I'll post links once we get back. If things go well...

Hey, forgot one quick question...in Bucaneer's word document he posted the Metering selection is "center weighted" but indicates the 3rd choice. I thought center weighted was the rectangle with the single dot in the middle - however, the 3rd choice is the rectangle with the dot in the middle and the rest partly filled in so it looks like a black "o" rather than a solid white dot.

2nd choice should be what we're using there on the SP350 correct? Center weighted? Thanks!
