I'm a Fish!
Ok, I searched the forum trying to find the answer but was unsuccessful, I'm sorry if I am asking a question that has already been answered but here goes:

I bought a Olympus sp-350 and Ikelite housing # 6132.35. I want to buy a substrobe for it that will work with the TTL. It is my understanding that if I purchase the Ikelite DS-51 or DS-125 and use the #4103.51 cable the TTL will work...am I right?

Which substrobe would be best if I eventually buy a WA lens...the DS-125?

Also, does anyone currently use the Ikelite substrobes mentioned and have any pros or cons related to them?

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

That question might be over my head. I have the DS-125 with the Ikelite housing (Nikon D-100). Dennis has the Canon and he has the TTL function, which I do not.
Backscatter in Monterey gives excellent tech support, BTW.

It is my impression the ds-125 has been very popular, it is my first strobe. The charge holds really well, and I set mine manually. I am just beginning to use the model light. It does charge fast. I wish I had one more...

You might PM Ike about it. I'm sure you'll get a straight answer.

Yes, that will work.

The DS-125 gives 100 degrees of coverage where the DS-51 only gives you 70. The Ds-125 recycle time is 1 second and the DS-51 is 3.5 seconds. The DS-125 has the target light and the 51 does not. What I do like about the DS-51 is that it uses AA batteries. The 125 has a proprietary (sp?) battery pack. If you are half-way around the world and you have battery problems.....AA will be MUCH easier to find.

Summary: If you don't travel much...get the DS-125. If you travel alot (or very far) get two DS-51's ;)

HTH,
Dave

Interesting am considering a DS-51 myself, the DS-125 with arms and tray is just out of my price range I think..

I have two DS-125s and am very pleased. They are pretty much bullet proof and will last you a long time, no matter what types of camera you will have in the future. I do carry one extra battery though.
