Hi Everyone,
I will be visiting some friends who live near the Saugatuck/Holland Mi. area this summer, Can you please help a fellow GLWC member out by recommending a charter in the area please.
I have emailed several shops in the Grand Rapids area, but no one responded to my simple request. (((I think it is too bad that they didn't, because a shop in Grand rapids I would have visited to look at thier tech gear while I was in the area.))):06:

Thank You for the advice.
Robb
P.S. anyone seen my rubber hose???:D :D :D

The short answer is, there are no charter sin the area....yet.

A couple of guys approached our exhibit booth at Ghostships in March and said they intended to start charters -- one in Grand haven and one in South Haven, I think.

I have not heard anything since then.

With the discovery of the Ann Arbor no. 5 last May, there are now several nice wreck dives off South Haven/Saugatuck. Check out the MSRA web site for more.

Right off Saugatuck lies the Northshore Tug in 150 feet of water.
The Ann Arbor no. 5 lies of South Haven in 160 feet of water.
The Ironsides off Grand Haven is a good dive. The water is quite clear these days.

If you are tech certified and experienced there are others...

See the "diving" page at the MSRA web site for the lat/longs.

BYOB -- Bring Your Own Boat!

Chuck at Ocean Sands Scuba just got his boat certified for charter. He's out of Saugatuck. He's a tech diver and will cater to whatever you want. His shop manager is the boat captain. They have a ton of experience diving that part of the lake. Chuck even has a couple of "secret" shipwrecks in the 250' range that he's found in the last couple years. Ocean Sands phone number is on their website: www.oceansandsscuba.com

PM me if you'd like more info, otherwise, give them a call and I'm sure they can take care of you.

Oh yeah, Ocean Sands Scuba is located in Holland which is about 15 miles north of Holland. They keep the boat in Saugatuck because the diving is better out of Saugatuck than it is Holland.

I'm glad Chuck finally got someone to captain the boat. Last I heard he was not certified for charters. That's good news for everyone in the area. His boat (n2Fix) is a nice one and can easily be used for charters.
