Any recommendations on outfits that offer night diving in the Southern Cal area?

exactly where you mean by "Southern California" or what level of organization you are expecting, but in the LA area, Reef Seekers (a shop in Beverly Hills) does a night beach dive once a month - check their continuing education schedule at www.reefseekers.com. Also, an informal beach diving group, the Sand Eaters, also does night dives - see www.sandeaters.org.

Outside of lobster season, I'm not sure of any boats that do this specifically, but check www.californiadiveboats.com for links to boat websites.

Greater LA area, I will be in the area next week and specifically looking for a possible night dive Aug 15th.

Thnx.

You can always night dive at Catalina's Casino Point Dive Park. Personally, I prefer to do my night dives when I'm in the tropics where it is toasty when I surface! Temps at night here right now are pretty comfortable though.

Thnx, but I need something on the mainland, where I'll be staying. Not sure how'd I'd get out there for just the evening.

Most multiday trips that I have taken have offered a night dive. Check TruthAquatics or Calboatdiving's website. During the winter months (squid runs) there are night dives in the San Diego area for the purpose of watching blue sharks. California Dive News might be a good source for more information.
