The lobsters are working their way in closer to shore. Did 2 tanks off a boat in Plymouth yesterday. What a beautiful day for diving. Maxed at about 28 feet, viz was easily 20 feet in places. Temps ranged from 54 to 62. There was a vertical thermocline running along the shore, it was very visible, running from almost the surface to 25 feet.

Took 8 keepers and 4 flounder between 2 of us. Had to return one that was 1/16 over max  Saw lots of big eggers close to shore.

Had a conversation with a Patriot Ledger reporter at the ramp. He is doing a story in Saturday's paper on lobster boats. He wasn't aware that divers can take them too. He's going to include us in the story. I hope I didn't say anything too stupid. ;)

Did a shore dive this morning at Brant Rock. Almost called it due to viz, but we figured it would get better as we got out of the mild surf, and it improved to about 6 feet. Pulled a couple of monsters out for their daily diver encounter. Took one keeper. Water was a balmy 62 - I wish I dove wet, I was roasting.

North Atlantic is sponsoring a dive at Brant Rock Saturday at 9AM. I'll probably do that, as our boat-owning buddy is heading north for a week at Hermit Island. If anyone wants to join, let me know.

Hello, new to the board. Looking for a dive Sunday or next weekend. Anything happening Plymouth to Scituate? I have a 20' Center Console and am looking to do some dives.

Welcome to the NELD on the SB, Sarge! You've discovered the best place to find new buddies and get info on local dive sites. There's plenty going on down on the SS and quite a few of the SB divers are from down there. Shouldn't have a problem hooking up w/ someone. Have fun diving.

Welcome to the board. I'm sorry I just noticed this now. I already made plans for a shore dive tomorrow morning.

Maybe we can shoot for next weekend.

Thanks Yak and Lobsterman for the welcome. I was going to fish Sunday but the weather kept me in anyway. Maybe a dive next weekend. I have to come up with some kind of tank rack for the boat. Never dove from it before.

My buddy's boat has something like this:

They slide along the track to accomodate tanks with BCD's or just tanks.

Would it be peoper to say since the south shore is not very popular due to not many shore dive areas that the south shore has some nice unexplored areas. On a map it looks quite attractive.

I think that's a fair assessment.

Been kinda 'leary' about screwing things into my nice shiny hull. I'll get over it and probably try them out though.

Scubasarus: I have never dove anywhere else. Most of my dives have been by boat out of Scituate up into Boston Harbor and down off Manomet the other way. Seems like someones always been there before........

Beach access for shore dives is a problem though.

in FULL agreement with the Sarge, Beach access on the south shore is a pain in the Nutz!! Pretty much No Parking anywhere. I dont think there is even a spot you can see the water in Plymouth!! And depth is also at a premium.

but also feel that south shore diving is as good as it gets anywhere 'round, just have to hunt out those dive nooks for the shore dives.

I have seen bungee cords (those thicker rubber ones) used rather successfully to hold tanks in place the boat. Ususally one around the top of the tank and another round the base.

If you had the room to lay them flat you could get something like the picture attached (www.leisurepro.com $12) or even make one yourself. Their was a post a month or two back about using those foam "pool noodles" with a little rope to store tanks in the bed of a pickuptruck.

also see the last pic on this site for a similar set up as above: http://www.bostondiverservices.com/Charters.htm
