I am moving back to Columbia, SC from Asia in the next month. Really, looking forward to getting in the water anywhere I can. Any advice would be great. Thanks in advance!!!

Tons of wrecks offshore, I wouldn't mind getting on a boat up there one of these days.

Hey Learningday,

Couple of options for you. Offshore of course, 3+hour drive to the Bueafort/ Willmington area for some of the best wreck diving. Charleston is an option but offshore diving in Charleston is more miss then hit.

An interesting dive experince in Charleston is diving the Cooper River. Famous for it's megaladon shark teeth and other fossils.

If you just want to get wet there is lake Murray. I've only really done one good dive there and that is a submerged bridge at 85' to 130'. Shore diving there is not so fun.

If you want to hit a quarry you can tag along with the guys from Wateree Diver Center when they go to a quarry which is about 30mins out of Columbia. Very Cold!

Last, A 3+ hour drive to Lake Jocasse for clear water mountain lake diving, very cool lake for diving.

Welcome to the board. You may also want to check out the NCdivers board. We are always planning some sort of dive and it's a good place to find local buddies.
