Several people on the forum had recommended the Skyblazer flares as an emergency surface signalling device. I searched the web and the only source I found was BOTACH, who had the Skyblazer scuba pack. However, they came back and said that the item was discontinued. Anyone have a source for the flares, either in the scuba kit or stand-alone? Thanks

You can get them at a brick and mortar Bass Pro Shop. I searched online but it won't find them no matter what I put in for search parameters.

Orion Skyblazer Red Aerial Flare

There are some gun shops here in VA that have them. You might try a survival/military/gun shop in your area

I got mine as West Marine and at camping supply stores.

You might try greatoutdoorsdepot.com, which claimed to have them 6 months ago. The flares are made by Orion Safety Products, which lists them and other similars in their current catalogue. Any Orion distriubutor should be able to get them. Don't worry about the scuba pack and waterproof whatever you get.

Its probably best to NOT have these shipped to you. They are considered hazardious materials and require HAZMAT shipping which adds weeks to the delivery and costs $20 to $100 depending. thats above the actual shipping charge...

WalMart has carried them.

Why no mail order?

Do the math.

How much does it cost to ship haz-mat stuff?

You would wince at the amt it would add to your 3 pack of SkyBlazers.

The B&M stores pay that fee once for a pallet full of them.

The "standard" ones are plenty waterproof, no need for the special u/w types... if they even still make them.

Do not try to pack them into your luggage on an air flight. You will make new friends if you do.
