Still deciding if the sony rx100 m2 or Canon G16 is right for me. Mostly plan to shoot macro stills and video. Since rx has over 20+ Mega pix is it overkill? I see the rx100 has a much bigger sensor then most p&s and hear that messed up the whole camera. Please inform me which maybe the best camera for underwater stills. Also canon g16 can due 1 cm focus compared to rx100 m2 which has 5cm from snap sort if that's true can I buy a lens to bring it up to 1 cm like the g16. I'm new to uw photos you see.

You don't shoot anything at 1 cm as other wise the subject is not lit
The rx100 is the best compact camera on the market for underwater video as well as stills
At macro and super macro level you need lenses like with all compacts and the magnification is less however should you need to crop 20 megapixel is a lot as a starting point
If you a lot of video get the mark II for stills only the original rx100 will be fine

i have the Sony and I've taken amazing shots with it. I decided after reviewing a lot of information & reviews online. I couldn't be more pleased.
