I took the same Yellow Snapper photo and did what I would normally do to it with Adobe PhotoDeluxe....Auto fix, remove the dust (grey fuzzy look), sharpen a teensy bit.
Newhamsters version is striking but not very true to what you see....and that's what we're trying to capture, isn't it? Yellowtail Snappers are NOT blue! Altering photos can be alot of fun but then they turn into art, no longer photographs.
I can take an OK picture and with a bit of manipulation make it a masterpiece but then it isn't mine, isn't something I can be proud of. One reason digital photos are seldom allowed in photo contests is because it IS so easy to manipulate them and therefore isn't a testiment to the photographers skill...or lack thereof!
So anytime you see one of my photos, whether it was a print that was scanned or from a digital camera, you can bet that what you see is what I saw.
