5 deaths this month? Is that a crazy place to dive, or did the prevous 4 all get killed in one horrible accident? The article seemed to allow for either reading.

Remember, the man that makes soap will also sell it.....(usually that is)...........Sad accident in deed..........sounds like a little pilot error in there.........

there is a reef north of still water that needs to be dove with caution when the water is rough. I ab dive here often and its one of my fav spots, for a quick dive. and the shelf can produce sleeper waves. I have been out there on good days and seen sleeper waves hit the reef and whale up. there is actually 2 of them next to each other. I have also read another divers written rendition on this sight. not still water but just north of it. b\between ocean cove and still water. by the photos it looks like that's where he was. tragic. dive here with caution. heck lets all dive with caution. its been rough out there on the sonoma coast. and us locals are staying out till it lays down. there are to many good days to push it. regards!!

jmani is right. this place, still water can be deceptively dangerous. it looks so inviting. and a nice beach entry. and is a popular spot for sonoma diving. even some check out dives for cert are dun here from time to time. but history tells the story. there has been many deaths at this spot. even on calm days, one should dive this location with caution. and know your limits. and for good sake! buddy up!!

Valid point was made of the danger of diving or swimming in aerated water. It is extremely difficult to swim or float in. Rescue craft such as jet drive outboars or prop motors also have a difficult time in aerated water making rescue craft less efficient. Try to stay away from these water conditions as you can get into trouble quickly.
