Somewhere spectacular to dive near Thailand

Hey guys,

I'm off to Thailand in a week or so.

Before I leave, I need to get my visa, and to get the visa it's required that I show my flight itinerary including a flight out of Thailand within 120 days.

Knowing little about Asia, I pose the question to my fellow divers - from your experience, where is somewhere close to Thaliand (Phuket), where I can get a cheap plane ticket to, so I can extend my visa - but also, do some breathtaking diving.

Would love to hear your suggestions, I'll be booking my flight within the next 24 hours.

Bali is not really breathtaking but quite good, plus available on a direct flight from Phuket.

I do understand why you need breathtaking diving after Thailand!!!
Indonesia and Philippines are so much better.

Phuket to KL to Tawau. Both flights on Air Asia.
Dive Sipadan, Kapalai, Mabul.
