So we have this friend, Norm. Norm is a pretty good guy, he's been hanging with us for a while now and always goes away with us on vacation. He's a lot of fun, the ladies love him and he's a real party animal. Although he can be a bit of a lightweigh and whines a bit too much for me, I really enjoy having him around.

Here is a picture of Norm at the Tour Eiffle.

And here he is at the Louvre.

One night in Paris he had too much to drink and we had to put him to bed on top of the cappachino machine so he'd stay warm.

We took him to Baltimore...

He really loved watching the Sox play the O's in Camden Yards...

We took him with us to Iceland...

and he really had a good time when we dove the Continental plates at Silfra...

We took him to Key Largo for a few days of diving this winter...

He went out with us but stayed on the boat and kept Captain AJ company...

He likes to think of himself as an athlete. I made him a pair of skiis...

And a set of dive gear...

Twin 10 cc Syringes with Gnomeland bands. True, 10 cc's isn't a lot of air but he's made of Gnomoplasm and has a VERY slow metabolism.

Unfortunately for Norm, Gnomoplasm has many of the same chemical properties as plaster and so a wetsuit is out of the question. A little brainstorming on my part and I came up with a very elegant solution... A DRYSUIT!!!!

Sure, the suit squeeze is a bit extreme but...

So I had to listen to him whine about wanting to go diving for weeks. Finally I'd had enough and brought him with us on a lobster dive that Mike Walls from The Dive Locker in Hyannis chartered on their boat.

Here is Norm looking out for whales on the way to the site.

We had a good day and caught a few bugs but Norm got into a beef with a few of them.

If I didn't know better I'd swear he had brass balls...

101_0793.jpg

He had to get all midieval on this guy to get him to smarten up...

101_0795.jpg

And he kept on wading in to the catch to show what a badass he is...

On the ride home he started whining about feeling itchy all over and having a hard time breathing. "Norm you're fine, just lay down and take a nap."
"No Paul, I'm serious, I'm seeing double now."
"That's cause you are still wearing your mask, Norm. Knock it off."

Well one thing lead to anouther and before you know it I ended up driving him by work and taking him for a ride in the decompression chamber.

NOT how I wanted to spend my day.

We're still pals but I don't think I'll take Norm diving again anytime soon.

Love it! Great drysuit and twin 10cc rig.

Norm needs to meet his cousin Moonie, the Scuba gnome.
