One of my coworkers let me take home a few of his "old" regulators today...he said if I liked them, that we could figure out a price later....

My question is...are they worth purchasing?

An Aqualung Calypso first stage with 2 second stages...the ones with the old chrome second stages...there's one HP port and three LP ports. When I put it on my tank, nothing seemed to leak...

A Dacor first and second stage of indeterminate model...the second stage is Halloween orange with a black purge button. There's a HP and two LP ports open, so I'd have to find the appropriate sized thingamabobs for it. When I examined the second stage, it sounds like there's something rattling around in it.

A Sherwood Blizzard Magnum second stage

Was thinking of trying to use these various pieces as a pony bottle regulator....

Thanks for your help! :)

The Calypso is worth keeping. It's pretty much the same as the Titan that is still in production. Would be good as a single tank setup and it will last forever. They are still being supported by Aqualung so parts are still available. You would look cool while diving one.

Dacor is no longer in business. They were bought out by Mares and they are no longer being supported. Not a good purchase unless you have a bunch of rebuild kits to service them in the future.

Don't know much about the Blizzard.

The blizzard is a bullet proof reg. Easy to rebuild the second stage and parts are readily available. I use a blizzard as my back up cold water reg and this weekend I trust it enough to let my nephew borrow it for his checkout dives.

Actually, Aqualung is no longer supporting the Calypso regs. I tried to get HP seats and service kits more than 5 years ago, and was told that they are no longer available. I still have my first reg, a Calypso VI that I purchased back in the seventies.

The Calypso seconds are repairable, not super performers but they work. The parts are pretty much generic. If you have the old long first with the built on yoke, it's pretty much a display. Very hard to find parts but then again, if the HP seat is OK, the Orings are not a problem to get but it's unlikely most techs will work on it, it is a DIY project.

HP seats can last a long time since they are not under pressure when the regulator is in storage. More than likely all most of the regulators would need is a cleaning and replacement of all the O rings.
