Some threads seem to be sensored.

ok ive been paying attention and Im the kind of person who speaks my mind so here it is. I see threads about some guy who wants to know what its like to live in florida
staying right in the same spot for days yet other threads that are more important being put back into the list of past threads. Whats the deal scubaboard? Let me start by saying its hot as heck in florida and theres too many people with lack of respect for others here. They should change the name to Newer York and maybe the building and destruction of our wetlands and marine habitats may rebound. As for diving its great and thanks to hard work by conservationist it might stay that way. If everytime someone makes a statement about the enviroment and it gets shoved on the bottom of the pile it appears like the support that should be given is'nt and we all lose.
If someone has a problem with my threads maybe they should speak up or shut up.
either way leave the thread alone and let others share their feelings, after all thats what a public forum is and obviously this one is being sensored. now that I got that off my chest lets dive!

Are you trying to imply we have freedom of speech??? Too many people these days are way to easily offended. Don't get me started.......

reefsavers - can you give me a link to where you see this? I usually use the New Posts function and it only brings up posts people have replied to since I checked in last so I don't think I am seeing what you are.

Please pop the links in here or send me a PM with them so I can have a look see :)

If you list "New posts" or "Active Topics" then the list is displayed in reverse chronological order based on the latest post in the thread. If you'll just look at the DTG on the posts (listed on the right) you will see this.
So, if the users have posted to a thread you feel is "unimportant" more recently than they have posted to one you feel is "important," then the "unimportant" thread will be listed before the "important" one.

You are aware that threads which continue to recieve posts remain at the top while threads that do not fall down the list.

Also, environmental issues are as encouraged to be spoken about the same way a dive gathering is encouraged. How do I know this? Because I have been fairly outspoken on both since I signed up on ScubaBoard. I always have and always will - with or without the staff badge.

Freedom of speech is a moot point. This is a private board and if we feel that the subject or posts have crossed the lines of good taste or breach the ToS, then the post/thread will be pulled and notification will be sent. Without these rules, the board turns into alt.rec.scuba, and I for one am not interested in that.

Questions?

I believe that your avatar has breached the level of good taste that should be censored. To whom should I make a grievance? :eyebrow:

In a way, Reefsavers and Shaka are kinda right. I've had a few threads pulled or heard of threads being pulled b/c others were "offended". I feel like these people should grow up. How do you get so offended by reading on a friggin scubaboard?

We use a very simple formula when deciding what stays and what goes. Those posts that are within the bounds of the Terms of Service, which everyone agrees to when they sign up (you did, too), stay. Those that violate the terms of service get pulled.
If you want to post something that you're not quite sure of, all you need to do is PM a moderator and ask if it's ok or not. If it's questionable to the mod then it'll get brought to the back room where we'll decide. We'll then take one of three actions... (1) We'll allow it, (2) We won't allow it, or (3) We'll make suggestions on how to modify it so it'll be ok for the board. If it's disallowed we'll tell you our reasoning and hope you see the wisdom in that reasoning.
As a (very) general rule, if you wouldn't want your 13 year old daughter to read it, don't post it.
Thanks in advance for your understanding.
