How big was it?

Thanks! it was a lucky mid water macro shot, 60 mm Tamron on a 7D, it's probably around an inch or so, maybe 2...
 
Gobys usually hang out on the bottom in the sand. Looks like a juvenile something. Seems to have spots.

The bottom fin of a goby is usually fused together. I can't tell in this picture. The head also dosent seem round eneugh. Not sure what it is. Awasome picture!
 
The three spines look similar to a hogfish, though the similarity ends there.

I'm leaning toward a goby.
 
Hmmm... I might have to send this one to one of the icthyologists at an aquarium... that sometimes help..!
