Hi everyone,

I am planning to go to Catalina with my friend from Northern California tomorrow (Wednesday, 12/19/2007) and dive at underwater park. Due to the current weather condition, can anyone tell me more about the condition at Catalina now such as visibility, surge/current? My friend and I don't mind on the cold weather, and we will bring our own equipment. Is it worth to go? If so, will I receive the service at the local dive shop like tank rentals? Can anyone tell me anything I should be aware of and know on diving at Catalina? Your help will be highly appreciated.

Thanks a lot,
Ed

Unfortunately I've no info on the current conditions but here's a bit of info and advice from someone who's dove there on a week day during the off season...

The fill station at the park will not be open on a Wed at this time of year, so you'll have to get tanks and fills at either Scuba Luv or Catalina Divers Supply (on the Green Pier). Both places should be able to provide you with a wheelbarrow for carting tanks back and forth. If you are doing multiple dives I'd recommend just renting a few tanks so you won't have to make the treck from the park to the shop after every dive...

Have fun and dive safe! :)

Just sent a PM to you in response to yours. Will try to get more info when I am downtown "Munching."
