I'm sure that there are forums for what I want to comment about BUT here goes. I'm and Old-Timer and some things are harder (HA!) for us than you youngies. One is holding your pee. Luckily I've been able to hold it till I get to the boat between dives. I've read a lot about peeing in you wetsuit (no problem) but usually when I get on the boat between dives it's a race between getting my dive gear off and getting into the head. Maybe I'm drinking too much Gatoraid before the dive. I've checked into pee valves but they don't make one small enough (hate to admit that). SO! How about just sewing a plastic zipper into the front of my wetsuit just as if I had on a pair of trousers and yanking it out and peeing while in the water? Seems simple to me. Any comments, suggestions or things that any of you have done?

If it works for you. Just make sure that when you utilize that innovative zipper some fish does not mistake your ... for a worm .... OUCH

One of the best things about getting older (I'm "only" 40 so I guess you can say the best is yet to come) is that the size of your member becomes proportionally less important to your success with women.... At some point they even start liking you for your personality ;)

You can have them custom fitted into most wetsuits. In contrast to jeans, the zippers I've seen on wetsuits are usually fitted across the suit as opposed to up and down...

R..

If you unzipped underwater, wouldn't that allow the water in as well as the pee out?

You say no probelm to peeing in your wetsuit so is the problem that the urge does not hit until you are climbing aboard? My diving is mainly shore diving and I often find that I am just dandy through the dive until we're back in 4 feet of water and I stand up, things go vertical and gravity gives my bladder a wakeup call. I then have the decision of let her rip or go ahead with the exit and expeditiously fin an opportunity for relief onshore. The call varies.

That being said since it's such a source of discomfort try spending a few more moments bobbing upright at the end of the dive then when the urge fins you get it over with.

If the boat crew does not object you can then duck under and perform the Walter Maneuver :

Yes, the urge comes when I get back on board. I haven't had a problem while I am in the water. I'd rather pee in the water before ascending. Maybe the water pressure holds things back. I think others have the same thing going on because if you don't move fast you'll be standing in line. Once I jumped off in my Speedos after boarding and had a nice pee. Of course I caught hell from the DM since I didn't have an air supply, but it was that or pee down my leg and onto his boat floor and have everyone else on my case. Very messy and embarrasing don't you think? The other thing about a zipper is what I am going to try out. I bought a bunch of zippers on Ebay last year which were left over from an out-of-business wetsuit producer. I was thinking about using one of the long ones to put a zipper in the front of an old, cheap wetsuit I bought for try-on. I can't figure why they are in the back anyway. Some of them are about a foot long or shorter. That should work. I figure to use nylon thread and sealer. I'll check with a local seamstress and see what she thinks about the positioning and what type stitching she will use. If it works out I'll let you know.

why not make sure you hold the pee during the dive, then pee right before you get out of the water?

Just before I get out of the water I have abut 60 pounds of stuff stapped on my back and waist so I can't get my suit off and I really don't want to pee in my suit. That's why I want to be able to pee, while in the water, before I ascend or while puttering along looking at the fishies, without smelling up my suit.

i don't follow

here's my suggestion:

pee in the water

wait a little bit

get in the boat

you can pee while at your safety stop, or perhaps five minutes before the end of the dive, or whatever ... just wait til the last possible moment (so as to give your suit time to "flush") and then pee

btw, if i had to pick between peeing on myself while on the boat or peeing right before getting out of the water, i'd take the later

yes, just pee in the wetsuit. Grab a sleeve and "flush".

If you are drinking a lot of water, it's dilute anyway. Urine is sterile, does that make you feel better?

Maybe the water pressure holds things back.
No. You are having trouble because you are kicking or something. Try holding the line until you get it down.
