Great report ! New England diving is indeed all about that... magic And yet, I have only seen a tiny bit of it ;o) But with all the posts like this, it feels like I wwas there !

Can anyone ID the creature in pic#3 HWR ellfish 7-4-10? The seal is a cute little guy isn't he?

Looks like a Rock Gunnel in your picture. They're pretty common among the rocks around here
