Rates are still the same from Houston for the dates I am looking at. Hopefully, I will be booking this evening or tomorrow once I find out how much my car transmission repairs are going to cost me.

Good 4 U..but the rates from Houston always were higher than Cols Ohio.....but I think Cols is slowly catching up again unfortunately.:depressed:

Some flights, even some dates may go up with sales, but I think that the airlines are restoring flights to previous frequencies. If I check LBB-CZM for some dates next week, fares are double what they would be for August. With advance planning and flexibility of dates and/or airports tho, lots of bargains still showing up. Even if I wanted to leave in a week, I could still get $303 RT including taxes flying into Cancun; I wouldn't like the times as much, but it could be done cheaply.

Hey, if you can't find flights for less than $400 RT including taxes, give me...
Preferred departure city;

Preferred dates; and

Preferred hotels.
I'm up for a challenge.

OK, I missed the under $300 fares. MKE to CZM; March 13-20, 2010. Already have hotel.

Oh, and looking for 4 adults.

Wow! Long ways out. I might suggest you have time to shop, but it's hard to say that the fares will ever be this cheap again. Two things challenge me here...
You want to go & return on Saturdays - the most expensive days!

You didn't tell me which hotel. It's often so much cheaper to book hotel and flights together, even if you had to cancel your current reservation to book a package.

Fares from MKE have been up, but did slide down some recently: SH-05.jpg

One approach for weekend travel only is flying in on Saturday, leaving on Saturday, doing at a night at a DFW area hotel...

Or fly into Cancun on Saturday, leave Coz the following Friday to do a night at a Cancun airport hotel and take the early plane out...

The best fares are for travel other than on the weekend of course, maybe out of nearby Chicago. I've done that drive; not a bad one then....

Well, I hope I gave you some shopping ideas...!?

DD, I think you missed your calling - you should be a one-man travel agent for Coz! I'm going to book through you next trip....
Haha, I'm learning, and glad to help. I use the same tools to search other destinations as well, but it's not that difficult once you learn some searching skills. My favorite search site is Sidestep.com in that I can expect them to search Orbitz, Funjet, and many others, plus opt to have them check even more sites additionally by checking those boxes at the bottom, search for nearby airports leaving and arriving both, for alternate dates, etc - and avoid airline site cookie entrapments!! I have caught airlines bumping the fares on a route while I checked various dates then returned to a previously viewed date, until I clear the airline's cookies - then the fares dropped again. :shocked2:

Here is how I check for flights with options circled. You get a lot of windows open and you have to prod some of the other sites along, but worth checking...

You can often save more booking flights & hotel together tho...
SH-13.jpg

There are some hazards to the site. They include all hotels within 100 miles, so you have to specify Cozumel only to avoid Playa del Carmen, etc....

And their Distance & Map links are a joke, showing some hotels 30 miles east in the ocean. I work around that tho, always checking the other sites for comparisons & info.

But let me know if I can help sometime? I booked two rooms at a Red Roof in Albuquerque, after confirming with my daughter than cheap, basic rooms would suffice, 5 miles down the freeway from the Balloon Fiesta for opening weekend of festival @ $55 each. Couldn't find anything like that anywhere else...!!

Good info DD,
I had a feeling the airlines were doing that with the cookies. Grrrrrrrr....:shakehead:
I would get the air fare price. Then I would check again a second or maybe even a third time, after confirming plan's with others in the group... Price would go up. Hard to explain to a people why the airfare would go up in a few hours on the weekend. I always thought it was from the airline selling certain seats at a certain price then running out of those seats. Learn something new everyday.
Should make that a sticky:
Airlines tracking cookies and how it effects pricing.

Thanks a bunch. We were gifted a time share week at El Cid-La Ceiba and the dates are fixed. Perhaps if we flew out a day early. I'll look around some more.

Well, that too does happen. Weekends are the worse time to shop for tickets with mid-week generally the best - especially the wee hours after inventories are replenished with seats canceled within the 24 hours buy&think period, etc - but cookies: yep! I first thot it was odd that I have the fare go up on me while shopping the airline site, but then when I tried Sidestep - it found the lower fare on the same airline and then linked me to the itinerary at the lower fare on the airline's own site! So, I tried clearing that airline's cookies, a skill I had to google & learn, and Ta-Dah! Busted!

Ah ha! One more reason why time shares are a lousy buy; I cannot bring myself to use the word investment! Yeah, Fridays are a little cheaper, Thursday cheaper yet - but if you have the TS from Saturday to Saturday, I can see why you'd want to make the free room work, without staying elsewhere for a night or two, etc.

Looking again this morning, as fares & inventories fluctuate, as do my skills, and based on that info - I think I'd jump on one of these two...!

These flights in/out of Cancun are available Saturday or Sunday, and they're the same planes as the airlines are code-sharing and merging. Arriving Saturday at 6pm, clear immigration & customs, board a reserved van by 7:30pm, be in PDC by 8:30pm, 9pm ferry, 10pm Coz, 10:30pm finally at El Cid. I did that ferry in March after leaving my house at 2:30am and spending half a day in Cancun with a dentist, but I still made the 8am dive boat. Returning would require the night before in a Cancun airport hotel, tho.

SH-18.jpg
Or this is available 3/13-3/21. Same arrival, but leave Coz on Sunday on the 5am ferry if you can stay an extra night there, PDC at 6am, reserved to CUN at 7am - if nothing goes wrong, cool! If things go wrong, Trip Ins! Or for maximum safety, use the TS for Saturday to Saturday, Cancun hotel on Saturday night, still take the 10am plane Sunday. You could use a cheaper hotel in town. :crafty:

Hey, hope I helped some, and good luck on tying it down @ $300 each...! :pilot:

Normally we can find better rates and more days to choose from out of Atlanta into Cancun and Keep in mind that there is a puddle jumper from Cancun to Coz. I think $56 + taxes One way. Maybe $63 total. Time you figure the bus/taxi and the ferry against the short plane ride not to bad and from what I hear a great view. We will be doing this in November. But only only if you travel light. One 55 lb bag and a personal bag, Guess that leaves out Don :)
