Yeah, I've found that as well. Things tend to jump on Sundays, and often will drop back down during the week.

I think more people Internet shop & buy on weekends, but then release within 24 hours at times, or maybe the gurus just lower some more after Mondays meetings, or - maybe too late.

I booked 7/18 departure with 7/26 return. Pretty fixed on those dates due to childcare logistics. Yes, I have until 3:30 tomorrow to cancel with full refund.

Yeah, I used Sidestep.com, checking all the boxes at the bottom, and found a few. Not a lot, some only had one seat, but if you can't make one of these work right away, keep trying. Click for larger or Right-click and select Open in new Tab....

I should have asked you which hotels your liked. If you use Sidestep.com and search Vacations with all boxes at bottom checked, you get flights & hotels with prices that usually include all taxes & fees - except for Bookit.com, they try to sneak more in, skip them...

But it really pays to watch for Sidestep Vacation links to Orbitz, or just go there on a separate tab or window to compare...

Ok, you don't need a hotel, just flights - right? Looks like all the airlines need 2 stops to get from JAN to CZM which runs the fares up over $500, but only 1 stop to get to CUN for only $301 including taxes & fees. (Y'all notice that T&F is a lot higher to Mexico than domestic, but at least you don't have to save or beg money at airport for departure taxes - and I have seen that done!)

Or out of MSY ([-]Baton Rouge[/-]), there is a similar far comparison - much cheaper into CUN. It may not be the 1-flight vs 2-flight like I suggested in all cases; it may be that airlines are filling up seats on reduced flights but may add flights - we hope.

This Delta itinerary might work into CZM, but I think it returns from CUN...

If you need a hotel, or anything else, I'll look some more. I don't think 3 nights is enough for the Orbitz coupon above, but there are others.

Thanks for the help Don. MSY is New Orleans I believe. The fares there are far less but I think its about a 4 hour drive from Jackson. I am trying to surprise him with a weekend in Cozumel. I will be there visiting friends so it would be nice to see him. He is away from home almost 90% of the time so a rendezvous in Mexico would be great.

But $301 out of JAN to CUN looks good. The bus, tricycle porter, ferry drag ain't bad for less than $20 each. Hope that works for you. That holiday weekend will go fast I bet.

That's the actual origin? I should have just use that plus Check Nearby.

Holy Cow you are up late!
The flights out of Jackson to Cancun look real good. He will just have a carryon, I will be taking his dive gear from NY or borrowing it from friends. Sounds like a plan to me. Thanks again

Who was wanting cheaper fares from Denver? When I did some checking, I guess I signed up for an email alert. Got one from Expedia: 09/12/09 - 09/19/09: $333 RT inclusive. Looked closer: Sidestep & Priceline has American doing it for $320.

Oh wait! You had a great fare already...

Don - You've inspired me! I just booked 2 non-stop RT's Denver-Cancun Sat 9/12 - Sat 9/19 for me and my son. $253 each on United. I've got a room/diving request in to Blue Angel for the real fun part of the trip.

They're up and down all the time. Got to make your best call. Glad you got a good one...!

Looks like the fares have gone up...now $238+tax vs $162.00 last week. Hope everyone got in on the specials before the rate change. We may never see those very low fares again...boo hoo

Rates are still the same from Houston for the dates I am looking at. Hopefully, I will be booking this evening or tomorrow once I find out how much my car transmission repairs are going to cost me.

Some flights, even some dates may go up with sales, but I think that the airlines are restoring flights to previous frequencies. If I check LBB-CZM for some dates next week, fares are double what they would be for August. With advance planning and flexibility of dates and/or airports tho, lots of bargains still showing up. Even if I wanted to leave in a week, I could still get $303 RT including taxes flying into Cancun; I wouldn't like the times as much, but it could be done cheaply.

Hey, if you can't find flights for less than $400 RT including taxes, give me...

Preferred departure city;

Preferred dates; and

Preferred hotels.​

I'm up for a challenge.
