Another one who was schooled by that famous dive instructor Charles Darwin ?

I dive with groups of divers all the time, but often find myself alone either on the wall or inside the wreck shooting photos. So, I guess I dive solo even with 4+ others in the water.

If I was worried, I guess I would not wonder off on my own

have you heard of a new classification? "Solo Divers with Partners". We are advocates of self-suffiency, personal responsibility but we enjoy diving with others of like mind who have agreed to never go after our assets. We are a small elite group but our membership is growing exponentially. We enjoy all benefits of buddy diving without any of the disadvatages.

No, I have not heard of this group. Most of the people I dive with are very experienced divers who I do not have to worry about. So wondering off by myself is accepted and probably expected.

I do like to have a model most of the time, if needed for wide angle.

I looked at your web site

Very nice work

Advanced Diver Magazine has a section in each issue called "Featured Photographer"

This section does not pay any money to the photographer, but does give them a 3-5 page full color layout just about them and their photography. ADM has around 20,000 readers each quarter

Would you be interested?

I'm in Catherine. That can be our new Mission Statement. Solo Divers that sometimes dive with partners.

ooooh, yea. My site has not been updated for awhile....so you can make me famous? That sounds really fun. thank-you for the compliment.

We are kind of kidding about the solo group...we are planning on starting one, you know, give ourselves some much need legitamcy! :14:

If I am buddied with a photographer then I assume that for the most part I am diving alone, if they are planning to shoot macro then even more so. The only exception is that there is another source of air close by. The photographer will be very focused on finding, staying close, staying still, etc for long periods of time and will not be watching out for me.
I think there is nothing wrong with this as long as we both realize that this is the situation and dive accordingly. If I have dived with them before and know their approximate air consumption relative to mine it makes life easier otherwise I have to position myself to read their gauges at various points in the dive.
Now when I have my camera as well then the situation is very similar to solo diving.

Spearfishing also fits into the solo with buddy situation. Many of my dives are spearfishing at the offshore oil rigs. Although my buddy and I may enter the water together we will go different directions to hunt and can be seperated by as much as 200 feet. One of us will usually return to the boat before the other. I seldom dive completely alone but I consider all my dives solo because of the distance of seperation from my buddy. Buddy may not be the proper term to use in this situation because it gives the impression of a buddy team that is not doing what a buddy team should do. May be paired solo is a better term.
