Hi, looking into possibly going this Xmas and curios what the crossing was like and sea temps and currents this time of the year. Thanks so much.

Since you've gotten no replies......

Predicting sea conditions on the crossings or the currents out at the islands are like trying to predict the weather in NYC 2 weeks from now. I don't think that they follow trends - and if they do, I am not aware of anyone tracking them. But I would expect that currents are affected by the lunar phase.

As for sea temps, I've never been there in late December, but I have in November, January, February and April. In November, the water normally remains warm - 78-80. In January and February, you can expect mid-70s. Perhaps December is somewhere in between.

The crossing usually takes about 24 hrs. If motion sickness is a concern, there are OTC remedies that you can take beforehand.

We were in Socorro in November and the water temps were around 80 to 81. Our crossing was smooth and in general, crossing are good in the November and December timeframe but you just never know. We are headed there again in November of 2019.

I think only one dive we had strong currents.
