HI all,
What is the Soccorro Islands season and when is the best time to visit ?

July to October is the OFF season at Socorro Isles when the boats do not go out.

It is the diving season all the rest of the time. When you go depends on prety much what you want to see. The giant mantas and most sharks are there most of the diving season. December to mid-March I believe is the best time for humpback whales. April to June for Hammerhead sharks and I am going in May for those. June and November - the months just before and after the off season - might be the best for whale sharks but I think they are uncommon anyway.

We were there in late November 2012. Water temp was 79F. We saw several whale sharks and in fact had a whale shark researcher on our boat. There were also plenty of mantas, and about 5 other types of sharks, including hammerheads. It was a great trip.

Jan 2015 - water was 78-79F - lots and lots of mantas, sharks, dolphins, but sadly no whale sharks to be found.

Really fun trip. We went on Nautilus Explorer. Great crew.

We went in March. Humpback whales were EVERYWHERE, and one group even saw one underwater. No whale sharks.
