I'm going to be in the Los Angeles area from Oct 6-16 and I'm looking to do some diving. I think I'm going to do mostly shore diving, so if people could give me some good dive site suggestions that would be great. I'll be staying in San Pedro but I think I might go down to San Diego to dive the Yukon, and maybe make a visit to TJ while I'm at it.
Thanx,
Neil

from San Pedro, you could go up to Redondo Beach and check out the U/W canyon near the pier, check out some of the sites along the Palos Verdes peninsula, or head down to Laguna Beach. With the extended algae bloom this year, though, conditions have been less than phenomenal.

Bear in mind that many local dive boats depart from San Pedro/Long Beach. It is also a good location from which to catch the Catalina Express to go over to Casino Point for the day.

Check out the Sandeaters (local beach dive group) calendar, and see where they are meeting:

I think Reef Seekers Dive Shop may have free beach/night dive continuing ed dives during that time:

Look under "classes."

Sandeaters.org is the way to go. give a shot on their e-mail system and you are certain to get a dive.

Palos Verde offers many excellent shore dives.

Give me a e-mail if you need a buddy.
