Does anyone know of a reliable way to get diving conditions for SoCal on the net? I dont mean just high/low tide. Something with visibility and maybe water temp? The L.A.Times has a small one in the weather section, but it only lists like 4 places. Any info would be nice!

Thanks!

Water temp? as a ruff ruff guide.........

Jan to March - April mid to low 50s

April - June - mid to upper 50s

July - September low 60s, maybe up in el nino

Oct - Dec. - mid to upper 50s

As far as viz, no. But you can extrapolate viz from swell and wind reports. Check out the link over at diver.net, cal. diving weather, for lots fo swell models

For viz, check back here for monthly reports

For local dive reports and more:

San Diego list-subscribe@divebums.com

Orange County orange-subscribe@divebums.com

You can get emails as they are posted OR you can receive a daily digested version. Divebums listservs are a fabulous way to get lots of dive related info for those specific areas.

Try it, you'll like it!

Simply PM DrB. That's what I do. Reasonable reliable (:D) and usually right on the money.

dr bill's weather service will be temporarily out of order because the bum is leaving for Belize and Honduras.... :2tongue:

Well thank you very much Mo2vation and shame on you kelphelper for calling me a bum... of course I know you mean dive bum!

Speaking of conditions here, my occasional dive buddy Vicki had a soupfin shark follow her during her whole dive in the Dive Park. And to think I picked today to stay dry.
