The tanks are from a old "Survive-Aire" pack. The neck threads aren't compatible with scuba valves.

Would make a cute little set o' doubles for a TradeShow display though....

Tobin

Are they 1/2" pipe thread?

You know, I just saw a deal on the Military channel last night on HALO jumpers. They used a small doubles rig very very similar to that when they were doing jumps from 35,000 feet.

Last ya just long enough to breathe "dense" air I suppose.

Just my 2 cents..

D.

Argh! I thought they were twin 10 LITER bottles...this imperial stuff is a real let-down :D

Resurrecting an old thread can be fun, so here goes!
Tobin wins the prize, those do indeed appear to be the old SurvivAir twins, they show up on ebay once in a great while, the singles more often.
Made out of steel, they do make a great little suit inflation bottle if you can find the old ones with the 1/2" NGT threads. 2250 psi if I recall correctly.

Time to resurrect it again. I ended up with a pair of these recently. The necks are, as reported, non-standard. However, the manifold has a standard outlet. Apparently, USD initally used a modified Aquarius as their regulator for the Survivair firefighting equipment. These doubles were the tanks that came with them. I posted some pictures here:

Anyway, my plan is to get them hydro'd and filled, and use them with a Conshelf XI and a lifejacket as a sort of SASY unit for my sons, who are dying to try them out already. They already enjoy breathing off of Dad's regs at the poolside, and the son who will use it first is a pretty good snorkeler(he's 5). This way, he can swim on the surface of the water and watch dad when I'm doing my doublehose drills. Eventually, they may become a set of pony bottles, who knows.
