I have been seeing this DIR thing popping up here and there and have no idea what its all about..please enlighten this newbie.
So whats this DIR thing about ????

i would suggest doing a search on 'DIR' and you will find a wealth of threads covering the subject.
If you do a search on the board you should get smoe of your answer, or at lest a basic idea.
In a nutshell its an anpproach to diving that encompasses training, safety, team work, gear configuration, to a name a few things.
If you have any questions, next weekend on the Ginnie trip , there will be at lest a couple of divers that practise DIR that can help answer any questions you have (at least myself and SeaJay).

There are so many DIR posters on the net who could more accurately be described as DIR posers and the signal to noise ratio is very bad.
Get the straight scoop from the source first and then ask some specific questions here... but be sure to ask those who answer what their actual DIR training is and what kinds of dives they actually do.

I just searched for "DIR" - and found this thread.
Actually if you search for it - you don't come up with much in the way of basic info.
But I did just check out the GUE website now.
WOW I can't belive I found out what GUE and DIR meant all in one go.
Just ordered a GUE DIR manual. So I can see what everyone is talkin about.
