Sorry I couldn't join you all, how did it go?

The clean up was great. Unfortunately, it rained during the awards ceremony. Although a record number of divers were signed up for the the clean up this year, I think many of them decided not to make the trip over because of the storm forecast.

This location was also added this year, so the crowd was more spread out. I'd really like to know how the pachinko game ended up in the harbor. I do NOT want to know anything about the purple item, or why it was scorched...enough said.

The cleanup was fun (though the Casino Landing entry is a bit tricky). Favorite visual: some guy swimming by with a rusty box fan in one hand and a big fishing pole in the other. Looked kind of like a shield and spear.

But the best part of the day for us was Dive #2 - we had a great dive in the dive park between the cleanup and the awards ceremony. There had been hardly any divers over there all day, and the vis was amazing - best I've seen in the last year! Too bad it wasn't sunny.

By the time we got out, it was raining, and it pretty much kept getting worse all afternoon! We were with a group, so we stuck around through the awards ceremony and eventually caught the 5:45 ferry back - so there were several hours of just standing-in-the-rain time. That part was a lot less fun than the diving.

This was my first harbor cleanup - I'd definitely do again, though I'm keeping my fingers crossed for sunshine next year!

The Clean Up was great!!! This was my first time participating. I arrived Friday am. Did two dives at Casino Point in which viz was well over 40+ feet. Was able to see my first Jv Tree Fish! Also, came upon the newly sunken sailboat.

The day of the Clean Up, the group I was with, got to dive the West Side of the Green Pier. My buddy and I dove fairly close to the Catalina Express. Was well worth it, for we found an awesome reef with lots of sealife. Saw Nudibrachs I hadn't seen before. Also, was picking up trash around a mooring when I came upon a Horn Shark!!! Darn, didn't have my camera during the clean up. Even though it rained during the awards, it didn't phase us, for what the heck, we were all wet anyway from diving. My buddy won a trip to Cayman! Me, I ended up with alot of 'Chum' (prizes that were thrown out into the crowd) but was happy with what I got. I also saw numerous diving friends that made the event that much better. Had planned to dive Casion Point Saturday night, but the storm really came in and poured hard. The next morning, we had patchy blue skies. Checked out Casino, and it was doable. Did two more dives. Saw three more Horn Sharks and a 'baby' Giant Black Sea Bass!!! Viz was down a bit, not bad though, but the water..........friggin cold. I don't wear a hood, and even I was thinking about my sanity. LOL I will definitely go back. For those wondering, I stayed at the Hermosa Hotel, the hotel for divers. It was like $55 for two nights! Not bad....not bad at all. No thrills, but adequate.

Actually, I hear there's plenty of thrills to be had at the Hermosa.

Casino landing was nice. Vis was really good. Saw a really large black nudibranch with racing stripes in a sandy open area. Very cool. Wish I had had my camera. Some guys managed to pull a rusting compressor out from the harbor.

A navanax, perhaps? I had to rescue one that was inadvertently brought ashore in a bottle. No CPR was involved - yuk!

I have some pics back, but need to "downsize" them to post...
