So I'm sitting here studying for law school exams again, I do this about every 14 weeks, it just something I do, between dive trips, and I'm thinking I could work at McDonalds 20 hours a week in Florida, pay my rent pay my electric bill and pay for air fills, and have enough left to buy my new gear if I waited and saved up, between dives or hell worked 40 hours a week for a month. But I could be diving every fricking day... it would be go to work dive sleep go to work dive sleep....

:) I could do that... :light: I hate finals only another year of this crap. And one bar exam and then I'll be my own boss :) two dives a week is no way to live :( and I have to drive and hour and half to a decent lake :(

Oh well too much invested in my education now to become a professional dive bum. :eyebrow: As much as I would like too;)

No need to be a dive bum ... just choose to live someplace where diving is close by.

I dive almost every day ... and would dive more except for the fact that teaching scuba cuts into my available dive time. And that's on top of a regular "office" job that keeps the bills paid. I get out of work at 3:30, and can be at a dive site by 4 ... get in a dive and be home in time for dinner.

It's all a matter of choices and priorities ...

I have three blocks of chedder in my fridge to complement that whine. Get that education and come down to Florida to be ambulance chaser. Late night TV is not yet loaded up with "Were here to protect your rights commercials." By the way a job at Mickey D's would not pay for your rent, much less air fills in S Florida.

Are you asking if I've thought that today, or ever? Almost every day since I took my first real dive trip. By the way, it will not get better after graduation. As hellish as law school can seem at times, practice is just as bad, if not worse. You won't be your own boss, your clients will be your bosses, and none of them cares about the others. But we have to pay for our N2 addiction somehow, and lawyering actually beats the snot out of selling cars. Just live for vacation. It's like my signature line says.

The ER I work in is in the throes of metamorphosis, and I learned a week ago that, come September 1st, I may be out of a job. I wish I could get worked up about it. As my husband said to me, "What's the worst that can happen? You'll have more time to dive!"

Not to dispute your wisdom but mcd's pay a dive bum 6.25 and hour 20 hour a week is 125 bucks a week say the sunshine state takes 25 bucks a week. so I'd be clearing 400 bucks a month, oh crap I need a roommate hey any other dive bums out there?, I've been in college for fricken 10 years been living on 150 bucks a month in rent for awhile I think could swing it, say air fills 6 buck a day one dive a day I have to work tommorow :), thats what 186 bucks a month wow I got a whole 64 dollars to by food with + my complementry meals from the clown. :) and 31 logged dives a month.:D

I'm not whinning I really love the law some you can probably see it in my other posts its just I love diving too :) I like cheese too :) it goes well with wine :) But it would be fun To just dive and dive and dive and dive and dive and dive... ;) oh and the ambulance take care of them selves I'm specializing in propperty law :P I'm to slow for chasing things. :)

P.S. I'm not going to drop out of school I just was thinking it would be fun too:light:

I was once a dive bum, I had no money, I slept on the dive boats, dove my brains out, My equipment never dried out. I surfed on days it was too rough for diving, drank a lot of beer, I worked on boats at Spencers for crap wages but the job was really cool. It was a blast for about 3 years. Then reality set in. I do miss working at Spencers and especially the diving. Now I make deals with the family for dive vacations so I can get my fix. Without my college degrees I would probably be a drunken bum living in a trailer with a leaky roof and a rotted floor driving a rusty huffy. Stick it out, school is not forever, the choices you make now will be forever.

Ummm, be a lawyer in the dive business?

Happiness does not mean getting what you want. Happiness means wanting what you've got.

Now you seem like a guy that would understand why I dive in a 15' lake :) thats a five minute drive from home :eyebrow:
