I will be in Los Angeles in June for a fast-n-furious trip and I would like to get a couple of kelp dives in.

Are there any helpful websites that someone can recommend? Any helpful LDS?

Any advice?

;)

(Disclaimer: I'm usually not one of those people who asks for generic information. My first objective was to search the internet for info but there is just SO much information that I hardly know where to start! I'm hoping someone will have pity on me and tell me the basics.)

On www.diver.net you will find a links to most of the dive boats in southen california. The Great Escape, Magician and Pacific Star are all good bets. If your time is short try a day trip to Catalina.

The Catalina sticky thread in this form is also very detailed, and helpful.

Thanks for the info! Are there any beach dives in/around LA or Malibu?

im sure just post up when time gets closer and some of us would be more than happy to do a few beach dives.

Hemlon,
There are many diving options around here. Lots of beach diving sites along the coast(Malibu area, LA, Orange County, San Diego...), lots of boat diving options, and of course taking the ferry to Catalina Island and diving in the dive park is a favorite option for many of us.

Folks here are usually diving every weekend, and some during the week, so just let us know. And on June 10 we're getting together for a day of diving and BBQ'ing, so if you're here you're more than welcome to join us. And on June 24 a bunch of us will be doing a boat dive to Catalina. Again you're more than welcome.
