Anyone know of any 1 day trips on 9/25 or 9/26 in Southern Cal? I'm going to be in Ontario on business and was hoping to pick up a trip before flying home to dry NE....

I've had good experiences with the Spectre, and I believe they do 3/4 day dives on Fridays (and Thursdays, but only in the summer - not sure when they consider the summer to officially end!)

Check out the schedule here

You might also consider heading to Catalina for the day, either to just dive off Casino Point or to grab a boat - King Neptune with Scuba Luv is a favorite of mine. www.catalina.com has more info on Catalina diving and transportation.

If you want to see some pics from our dives at Catalina and the Channel Islands, check out www.thelaitys.com/gallery/underwater

Have fun!

Where in SoCal? General areas are Channel Islands (Ventura county), Catalina and Santa Monica bay sites (Los Angeles County) and San Diego.

Laguna Beach from Ontario and assuming you are flying in/out of Ontario Airport. Viz has been crappy here this summer, so its hit and miss. It really comes down to how much time you have and how far you are willing to drive.

Give us some ideas and I am sure folks wil come up with anything from wreck diving the Yukon in San Diego to boat diving off the Channel Islands.

I'm looking for something 100 bucks or less, and no more than a couple hours of driving. I am not wreck certified yet....Laguna Beach, any dive shop recommendations or contacts for a boat trip?

California Diving News. They have a database of all of the major boats in SoCal. The link to their search page is http://www.saintbrendan.com/database/search.htm

I tried putting in a date and it didn't work, so just hit the "Find all Records" and scroll down until you get to the date you want. For the 25th and 26th, there are a bunch of them.

To dive the Yukon, you don't need Wreck as you don't have to penetrate and still have a reasonable time. It is cold and rests on 100 fsw of water, so keep that in mind. You are probably about 2 hours away from most of these....Santa Barbara/Ventura probably is a bit further from Ontario. I'd offer to dive with you but its mid-week and the boss would be disappointed if I didn't go into work.

Let me/us know if you have any more questions....

Check out www.californiadiveboats.com - there is a good list with descriptions of the boats and links to boat websites. Boats might be difficult to find -- I think the weekend following is the beginning of lobster season, so they may be resting up.

If you are headed over to Catalina, see www.catalinaexpress.com. There are departures from Dana Point, Long Beach, and San Pedro.
