Snorkel Use

Only reason for a snorkel is a long surface swim. I never wear a snorkel, heck, on most trips, I don't even have one in my gear back. All surface swims I have done so far were manageable by swimming on my back. Last time I wore a snorkel was on a deep wreck, with current ripping so hard on my snorkel that i ended up taking it off right then and there because it tugged on my mask so hard it started leaking. And since then, snorkels are history.

Snorkel's waste of time, they belong in your pocket or the boot of your car.

Thanks to everyone for the input. After much thought and some more experience, I will be purchasing a snorkel and adjusting to having it with me. There were a couple of times that I would have used one, if I had one, on our recent dives in the Caymans and Cozumel.
